On Monday, Delhi’s Rouse Avenue court extended the judicial custody of BRS leader K. Kavitha until April 23 in relation to the excise policy case. Kavitha, who is the daughter of former Telangana chief minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao, was presented before the court by the CBI following the conclusion of her three-day police custody. According to the PTI report, during the hearing, the CBI informed the court that there was no need for further custodial interrogation of the BRS leader.

K.Kavitha Arrested by ED, CBI Custody, Tihar Jail: Updates
K. Kavitha, arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on March 15, was subsequently place in CBI custody until March 23. On April 11, she was arrest again by the CBI and later housed in Tihar jail. Earlier, a Delhi court had postponed its decision on the interim bail plea of the BRS leader, scheduled for April 9, citing her son’s upcoming exam as grounds for the request.
Prior to her arrest,K. Kavitha had been summon for interrogation on multiple occasions, but she missed at least two of these summons. Last year, she was interrogate three times by the central agency, with her statement recorded under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
What is the allegation against Kavitha in excise policy case?
According to the Enforcement Directorate, Kavitha was a member of the so-called ‘South Group’ that paid kickbacks worth ₹100 crore to AAP leaders – in exchange for nine retail zones under the now-scrapped policy. The probe agency had also revealed names of other people involved in the group – Yuvajana Sramika Rythu Congress Party (YSCRCP) MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, his son Raghav Magunta, Aurobindo Group promoter Sarath Reddy, and Delhi-based businessman Sameer Mahendru.
