Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during a speech in Odisha’s Jajpur, exhibited a humble gesture towards children by requesting the Special Protection Group (SPG) commandos to collect pictures gifted by the children at a public rally. He expressed his intention to write a letter to them and urged the children to include their addresses on the back of the paper.
The occasion marked the inauguration and laying of foundation stones for various development projects valued at over Rs 19,600 crore in sectors such as oil and gas, railways, roads, transport, highways, and atomic energy. PM Modi paid tribute to Biju Patnaik on his Jayanti, acknowledging his significant contributions to the nation and Odisha.

Emphasizing the significance of the inaugurated projects, valued at around Rs 20,000 crores, PM Modi highlighted their potential to stimulate industrial activities and generate employment in the region. He commended the people of Odisha for their role in these development initiatives and outlined the government’s commitment to addressing present needs while working towards a developed India. The Prime Minister also mentioned efforts to enhance energy capabilities in Eastern states, citing projects under the Urja Ganga Yojana for natural gas supply in states like Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Odisha.

PM Modi inaugurated a 344-kilometre-long product pipeline from Paradip in Odisha to Haldia in West Bengal, as well as the Indian Oil Corporation Limited Mono Ethylene Glycol Project and the 0.6 MMTPA LPG Import Facility at Paradip. These initiatives are poised to revolutionize the polyester industry in eastern India and provide raw materials for textile parks in Bhadrak and Paradip.
The Prime Minister underscored the government’s utilization of natural resources in Eastern India for Odisha’s development, highlighting the desalination plant in Ganjam district, which will treat approximately 50 lakh litres of saline water daily, making it suitable for drinking purposes.
