    PM Modi Meets Singapore Counterpart Lawrence Wong To Discuss Ties

    Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a fruitful discussion with Singapore’s Prime Minister Lawrence Wong today, during which they elevated their bilateral relations to the level of a comprehensive strategic partnership.

    PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Singapore at the invitation of Prime Minister Wong. Before their talks, PM Modi was given a red-carpet welcome at the Singapore Parliament House, where he also signed the visitor’s book.

    “A new chapter in bilateral relations: Comprehensive Strategic Partnership established. PM @narendramodi and PM @LawrenceWongST had a productive meeting in Singapore today,” Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared in a post on X following the meeting.

    “The leaders agreed to elevate bilateral relations to the level of a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. They conducted an extensive review of various aspects of their relationship, including Advanced Manufacturing, Connectivity, Digitalisation, Healthcare & Medicine, Skills Development, and Sustainability,” he stated.

    This meeting follows Singapore PM Wong’s recent assumption of office and PM Modi’s commencement of his third term.

    The two leaders also witnessed the signing of four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) after their discussions. Later in the day, Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to meet with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam.

    PM Modi Enhances Bilateral Ties with Singapore

    Prime Minister Modi will also meet Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. With Lee hosting a lunch in his honor.

    Additionally, PM Modi is scheduled to engage with Singaporean business leaders. And connect with those involved in the country’s semiconductor industry. Together with Singapore PM Wong, he will visit a semiconductor manufacturing facility.

    PM Modi arrived in Singapore on Wednesday following his historic visit to Brunei, marking the first bilateral visit by an Indian prime minister to the nation. Upon his arrival in Singapore, he received a warm reception from the Indian community.
