Bumrah sustained a back injury during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, and chief selector Ajit Agarkar confirmed that doctors advised him to rest for five weeks. However, the 31-year-old pacer couldn’t recover in time. Meanwhile, Harshit Rana made his ODI debut against England, taking four wickets in two matches.

Despite being India’s top run-scorer in 2024, Jaiswal has played just one ODI, with most of his success coming in Tests.
