The situation worsened for MI as they struggled to perform collectively on the field, resulting in a heavy 6-wicket loss. Opting to bat first, Mumbai had a disastrous start with four batsmen dismissed during the powerplay. Despite fighting innings from Hardik Pandya (34) and Tilak Varma (32), they could only manage to reach a total of 125/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Despite the disciplined bowling performances from Akash Madhwal (3/20) and Jasprit Bumrah (0/26), MI’s total was not sufficient to defend. Rajasthan Royals successfully chased down the target with 27 balls remaining, thanks to an unbeaten 54-run innings by Riyan Parag.

Captain Pandya acknowledged that MI had a challenging night, as they didn’t get off to the desired start in the match against RR. Despite his aggressive innings of 34 runs, Pandya’s dismissal while attempting a big shot was a setback as Mumbai faced their third consecutive loss in the tournament.
