    Rashid Khan surpasses Dwayne Bravo to become T20 cricket’s highest wicket-taker

    Rashid Khan has now become the top wicket-taker in T20 cricket history, surpassing West Indies’ Dwayne Bravo. He achieved this milestone during the first qualifier of the SA20 between MI Cape Town and Paarl Royals. For those who may not know, Rashid is the captain of MI Cape Town, which secured a spot in the final of the ongoing edition by defeating the Royals by 39 runs.

    The Afghanistan leg-spinner required just one wicket to make history, which he achieved by dismissing Dunith Wellalage in the 10th over. He ended with figures of 2/33 from four overs, bringing his total wicket count to 633. He expressed his happiness over this accomplishment and shared his excitement about reaching even greater milestones across all formats of the game.

    “It’s a remarkable achievement. Ten years ago, I never imagined reaching this point. It’s a proud moment for me as an Afghan to be at the top of the table,” Rashid said. “DJ [Bravo] is one of the finest T20 bowlers, and it’s a great honor to surpass him. To be in this position means a lot to me.”

    “I’m excited to keep going,” Rashid added, expressing his enthusiasm for the future. “I look forward to continuing my journey and contributing to the game.”

    Sunil Narine, Imran Tahir, and Shakib Al Hasan are the other active bowlers on the list pursuing Rashid. Among them, Narine is the closest with 574 wickets from 536 T20 matches and is expected to play for several more years. Nevertheless, Rashid is also likely to continue playing for many more years and may surpass the 1000-wicket mark in the future.
