Virat Kohli recently stepped down as the Test captain on Team India and former head coach Ravi Shastri. Came in his support. saying if Kohli has continued then he would have at least registered 50-60 wins. And many people would not be able to digest his achievement along with Sanjay.
Former teammate Sanjay Manjrekar did not receive Shastri’s comment very well.
Manjrekar said he doesn’t understand this new version of Shastri and his recent comment on former captain Virat Kohli, even though he admires Shastri a lot.
“I don’t have an idea. I was a huge admirer of Ravi Shastri. I played under him, he gave players support, a great fighter, senior. This Shastri 2.0 I don’t understand. What he says in public is expect, I don’t react to it”.
“I don’t want to be disrespectful. He doesn’t make very intelligent comments, you can see the agenda behind it. It’s not an accurate cricketing observation,” he further added.
BCCI has not yet announce the successor of the Virat Kohli in red-ball format and India is set to get into Tests late in February against Sri Lanka.
Virat has earlier stepped down as T20 captain and BCCI then sacked from ODI captaincy as management wanted one white-ball skipper.
Early this year, Kohli shockingly announced stepping down as Test skipper.
For sure, he could have led India for at least 2 years because next two years India would be playing at home. And who is coming over – 9 and 10 jacks, going by the rankings. But he would have then made it to 50-60 wins under his captaincy and a lot of people.
