Following a rise in traffic violations, Bengaluru West traffic police launched a special operation targeting wrong-side driving on key roads in Bengaluru. Numerous commuters, particularly bikers, were caught taking the wrong routes. Officers across all traffic sectors in Bengaluru West issued citations to the offenders.

Bengaluru Traffic: Surge in Wrong-Side Driving and Other Violations
Reports indicate that an average of 284 cases of wrong-side driving are registered daily. Complaints about this dangerous practice have also surged on social media, highlighting it as a major cause of fatal accidents. In addition to wrong-side driving, Bengaluru police have cited commuters for having defective number plates, using cell phones while driving, speeding, and other traffic violations.

Bengaluru Police Employ AI and Drones to Combat Traffic Violations
Bengaluru police have intensified their efforts to crack down on traffic violators by employing various methods. They have implemented artificial intelligence technology to track offenders. Recently, the Bengaluru Traffic Police introduced an Intelligent Traffic Management System (ITMS) in the city to detect violations and issue challans.
This AI system will identify speed limit violations, signal jumping, riding without helmets, triple riding, and mobile phone use while driving. Additionally, drones are being utilizd to detect and alleviate traffic congestion, ensuring smoother vehicle movement.
