Covid-19 cases have dipped significantly as India vaccinated more than one crore citizens as of Friday and in a situation like this, top IT companies like the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Infosys HCL Technologies and others have revealed plans to call their employees back to office.
According to John M Thomas, the CEO of IT parks in Kerala, the new work culture has created a positive impact on society by including more new mothers and the differently-abled in the workforce.
Thomas said that the companies will continue to operate in a hybrid fashion and not shrink the workforce.
Information Technology major TCS has said it will call back its employees to their office desks since about 70 per cent of them have been fully vaccinated and around 95 per cent have received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine during the ongoing jab drive across the country.
Executives of all the dozen companies that ET spoke with said flexibility is being offered for all roles which can be managed from home, excluding sales, manufacturing and other field jobs.
Some IT majors are preparing to bring employees back to office.
INFOSYS : “We have been getting requests from certain accounts to allow their team members to work from Infosys campuses. In addition, some of our employees have also been asking to come back and start working from the office, as a personal preference.”, the company said.
TCS : “We are committed to the 25/25 model but before the transition to the model, we need to start by getting people back to the office and gradually evolve to 25/25.Depending on the Covid-19 third wave, sometime towards the end of 2021 or early next year, we will get 70-80 per cent of our workforce back in the offices,” Rajesh Gopinathan (TCS CEO) said.
HCL : An Indian multinational information technology services and consulting company, HCL is following in the footsteps of its competitors to end work from home and call its employees back to the office.The company currently has over 1.7 lakh employees including 14,600 freshers globally last year and planning to hire over 20,000 fresh employees this year.
WIPRO : Wipro currently has around 2 lakh employees and about 55% of its employees in India have been vaccinated.“After 18 long months, our leaders @Wipro are coming back to the office starting tomorrow (twice a week). All fully vaccinated, all ready to go – safely and socially distanced,” Premji said in a tweet.
NAGARRO : “After 18 months of working from home, we can finally say something that many Nagarrians have long been waiting for! Yes, we are reopening the Nagarro office in Gurgaon, India. Of course, with all Covid protocols in place,” said the company via a LinkedIn post
