The Indian Space Research Organisation is collaborating with MapmyIndia for providing mapping and geospatial services in its continuous efforts to launch more ‘Made in India’ products. The CEO and the executive director of the navigation technology solutions provider MapmyIndia Rohan Verma announced the initiative.
He said that the Indian users will no longer have to depend on Google maps/Earth any longer. India’s journey towards ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat ‘ had began. He called the initiative a path breaking milestone towards ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’.
In a statement provided by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) ‘It has joined hands with MapmyIndia to combine their expertise and leveraging their geoportals to build solutions. ‘
The MoU was signed on Thursday between the DoS and the technology company CE Info systems private Limited which owns MapmyIndia.
The collaboration is going to benefit in ways such as sharing datasets like ‘NavIC’, web services and Application Programming interface (API’s) which are available in ‘MapmyIndia’ app.
NavIC called as Navigation with Indian Constellation is India’s own navigation system developed by the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). Indian Regional Navigation Satellite System (IRNSS) is also called as ‘NavIC’.
