After Airtel, Reliance Jio to partner with SpaceX to bring Starlink internet to India

As per an official statement released by Jio, the company has announced its plans to offer SpaceX Starlink solutions through multiple distribution channels. These include its extensive network of physical retail outlets, where customers can visit and explore the offerings in person, as well as its digital storefronts, enabling users to conveniently access and purchase Starlink solutions online. This initiative reflects Jio’s commitment to expanding its product availability and enhancing customer accessibility to advanced satellite internet services.

A day after Airtel’s announcement about partnering with SpaceX to bring Starlink internet service to India, Mukesh Ambani’s Jio announced on Wednesday a similar agreement with Elon Musk’s company. Jio will make Starlink solutions available through its retail outlets as well as through its online storefronts. Following Airtel, Jio Teams Up with SpaceX for Starlink Rollout

Jio announced that its partnership with Starlink will combine Jio’s leadership in mobile data with Starlink’s advanced satellite network to provide reliable broadband across India, including remote areas. Jio will sell Starlink equipment in its stores and offer installation and activation support. This collaboration follows a dispute between the companies over spectrum allocation, where the Indian government favored Musk’s administrative approach over Reliance’s auction proposal.

On Tuesday, Bharti Airtel had also announced that it has signed a del with Elon Musk’s SpaceX to bring Starlink internet to India. This was the first agreement to be signed in India, which is also subject to SpaceX receiving its own authorizations to sell Starlink in the country.

“Airtel and SpaceX will explore offering Starlink equipment in Airtel’s retail stores, Starlink services via Airtel to business customers, opportunities to connect communities, schools, and health centers, among many others, in even the most rural parts of India,” Bharti Airtel said in a statement.
