Pyongyang says its Sunday launch was part of a reconnaissance satellite project, the North Koreaa(South Korean) Yonhap news agency reports.

The South Korean Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said on Sunday that it detected a North Korean missile launch. From in and around the Sunan area in Pyongyang at 7:52 a.m. local time (22:52 GMT on Saturday). The unidentified projectile, likely a ballistic missile, fired toward the Sea of Japan, the JCS said.
According to the South Korean military, the missile flew around 300 kilometers (186 miles). And reached a maximum altitude of 620 kilometers. It fell outside of Japan’s exclusive economic zone, according to Japanese Defense Minister Kishi Nobuo.
