    Accused in Amravati murder case arrested in Nagpur

    Irfan Khan, the prime accused in the case, who was on the run, was arrested from Nagpur on July 2. According to police, Khan allegedly hatched a conspiracy to kill Kolhe and roped in five others, promising pay and a safe escape in a car after the killing.

    The other accused have been identified as Yusuf Khan (44), Muddsir Ahemad (22), Shahrukh Pathan (25), Abdul Thoufique (24) Shoaib Khan (22) and Atib Rashid (22), all residents of Amravati and daily wage workers. A total of seven accused have been arrested so far.

    Let us know the background of the arrested accused in the Umesh Kolhe murder case.

    – Muddsir Ahemad is a Maulana and belongs to a common household. In this case, his role was to do recce.

    – Shahrukh Pathan, Abdul Thoufique, Shoaib Khan and Atib Rashid were labourers.

    – Yusuf Khan is a veterinarian who runs a clinic in the city. His job was to monitor social media.

    – Irfan Khan, who is the main accused in the case, had promised to give some cash to the accused and help them escape safely in a car.

    As per the police, none of the accused has any criminal background.

    Sources said Yusuf Khan used to work at Umesh’s medical store. Subsequently hey both were members of a WhatsApp group, in which Kolhe had shared a post in support of Nupur Sharma.

    The accused, allegedly enraged by the post, plotted to kill Kolhe. He was executed on June 21.

    Umesh Kolhe’s brother Mahesh said that the murder of his brother has left the entire family in shock. “We did not even think that this would happen. He was a simple man and did not have any rift with anyone”. Accusing the police of not investigating the case properly, Mahesh said that the police took 8-10 days to tell them what the exact reason behind the murder was.
