At least six persons died in rain-related incidents over the past 24 hours and 95 people were evacuated. As heavy rain battered Gadchiroli, Nandurbar, Nashik and Palghar districts of Maharashtra. Two persons were killed after a structure collapsed in a Mumbai suburb while one person drowned in the Gadchiroli district in east Maharashtra. In Nagpur, an SUV got washed away in a stream at Pandharkhedi.
Six people died in rain-related incidents as downpour continued in several districts in Gujarat in 24 hours, while over 18,000 people were evacuated from the affected areas, officials said. The death toll in rain-related incidents in the state since June 1 has risen to 69.
In other news, IMD has forecast Monsoon to remain active till July 16. For 13 straight days, till Tuesday, all-India rainfall has been above normal. On Tuesday, all-India seasonal rainfall was 289.9mm, 9 per cent above normal.
