    The government is anticipated to unveil significant initiatives to combat climate change and promote green energy in the Union Budget 2025, in response to growing concerns about environmental crises. Experts speaking to IndiaToday in emphasized the urgency of climate action, highlighting the importance of clean energy-related announcements. They also expect measures to encourage the creation of green jobs.

    Climate Change : Prioritize renewable energy and sustainable jobs

    Manoj Bansal, Partner at Grant Thornton Bharat, highlighted that the government aims to balance achieving climate goals with fostering development. He emphasized the importance of prioritizing policies for clean energy and green technologies. He also noted that the budget might provide support for domestic carbon markets, scheduled to launch next year, and expressed optimism about incentives to encourage private companies to invest in climate solutions.

    Reduce emissions and incentivise ESG frameworks

    Vivek Mehra, Co-founder & Chief Sustainability Officer, Onlygood.ai, said, “With India’s commitments to reducing emissions intensity and creating significant carbon sinks, this budget could drive transformative changes across sectors. “Industries require incentives to adopt carbon accounting and ESG frameworks, ensuring compliance with emerging regulations and global climate goals. Measures to promote investment in cleaner technologies, renewable energy, and energy efficiency will be crucial,” he added.
